The record comes on the heels of Hanson’s recent stint in the improbable power pop supergroup Tinted Windows, a group he formed last year with former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, and Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger. After releasing a critically acclaimed eponymous album last year, the future of Tinted Windows is up in the air while the members pursue other projects.
“It’s definitely a side project,” says Hanson. “It’s really just a matter of when there’s enough creative space outside of Hanson, which could be a little while. But the short answer is I think there will be something else from Tinted Windows. The thing that makes it interesting is it’s not under pressure.”
